Vizcaya Museum and Gardens
This stunning estate is located just a short drive from Miami Beach and is well worth the trip. The 34-room mansion was built in the early 20th century and features a mix of European and American architectural styles, as well as beautiful gardens and fountains. The Main House was built between 1914 and 1916 as the winter residence of James Deering, a wealthy industrialist and art collector. Deering hired the architect Paul Chalfin to design the mansion in the Italian Renaissance style, drawing inspiration from the villas in Italy's Lombardy and Veneto regions.
Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach
This powerful memorial is dedicated to the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust. It features a striking sculpture of a hand reaching up towards the sky, as well as a reflecting pool and beautiful gardens.
The memorial was designed by architect Kenneth Treister and opened to the public in 1990. It was created as a collaborative effort between local Holocaust survivors, community leaders, and artists to ensure the memory of the Holocaust lives on and to educate future generations about the consequences of hatred and prejudice.
